Did you know Beighton had the honour of representing Yorkshire in the Britain in Bloom finals in the Urban Community category this year, 2010.
Who we are:
Beighton Environment Group was formed in April 2003 by a group of local residents who were concerned about the poor state of the village at that time.
Our Aims:
- To improve and care for our local environment.
- To make our village a more pleasant place to live and work, a place we can all be proud of.
Why our work is important:
We take pride in our village, preserving local history and the natural environment, protecting our heritage for future generations.
What we do:
- Hold meetings every other month (first Tuesday of the month)
- Network with local services e.g. Street cleaning, Highways and Recycling.
- Campaign for adequate litter bins and dog poop bins.
- Organise community initiatives with local residents and schools e.g. Beighton in Bloom, Sunflower Campaign, Lantern Walks.
- Take part in hedge laying, bulb planting, litter picking and other conservation activities.

- Attend our open monthly meetings.
- Join in with our activities.
- Become an 'Eco-Friend' of Beighton.
