This partnership project between Beighton Villages Development Trust (BVDT) and the Business Environment Centre (BEC) seeks to build on the success of a recent pilot initiative, to provide a unique environmental business support service to all businesses in and around Beighton and Sothall.

Business Environment Centre is a main provider of environmental business improvement services within Sheffield & South Yorkshire.   Since 1992, their team of Environmental Business Advisors has built up an excellent track record of successfully delivering environmental business support projects to South Yorkshire companies.

The Eco Business project will deliver:
- a custom designed programme to reduce commercial waste
- a bespoke ‘environmental audit’ to each business without cost
- practical guidance to reduce business waste & potential pollution
- capacity for businesses to contribute to an enhanced local environment
- cost savings through good environmental waste & energy management

As an example, research shows individual cost savings to a company can be demonstrated within 6-12 months with most businesses easily making significant savings - at least 10% of energy costs - by improved management of waste and energy.  Additionally, increased sales can arise from good environmental practice.  

The long term effects of the project should reduce local waste and improve environmental awareness within Beighton’s communities; thereby contributing to Sheffield’s targets in relation to enhanced efficiency in the management of commercial waste.
