When you are online there is a lot of things there, and lots of people, some of them are not always as nice as they make out. Because of this we have put together a few hints and tips to make sure they don't trick you!

You need to be a smart thinker, think about this when someone asks you a question, and you don't know them.

  • WHO wants to know?
  • WHY do they want to Know?
  • WHAT are they going to do with what I tell them?

When you have been talking to someone for a while they ask to meet you should think:

  • WHY should you meet them when you only know them online?
  • WHO should you tell you are meeting them?
  • WHAT could happen when you meet them?
  • WHO should  you go with?

Email has made contacting family and friends that don't live locally so much easier, but like with normal post there is lots of rubbish! This is called Spam. This can be just trying to sell you something that you don't need, but can also have virus' in them, as well as other things that may upset younger people. To help you protect yourself from virus', think about the points below before  you open attachments to emails.

  • WHO sent it you?
  • WILL  I be safe to open the attachment?
  • WHAT can I do to protect myself from Virus'?

As we have said there is a lot of information out there on the world wide web, but is is all right? Well this is a question even the best of us ask. The best thing to do is to stick to places that you can trust, usally if you want factual information there is many places out there that will tell you the same thing, the BBC are normally a good place to look, as they have lots of information, not just thigs to do with TV & Radio.Think about the following when you are looking:

  • WHETHER you can relly on the site to be true?
  • WHETHER the person I am talking to is telling the truth?
  • WHAT you can do to check?

We have already said that there is some thngs out there on the world wide web that might not be nice for some people, as well as some people that may upset you, but who should you tell if you find/get somethink like that?

  • WHAT can you do when a website or message makes you feel uncomfrtable?
  • WHO can I tell about it?
  • WHAT can I do to stop it happening again?
