Beighton Villages Development Trust

Beighton Villages Development Trust (BVDT) is the trading arm of Beighton Community Partnership established to deliver the 8 core projects of the Beighton IDP and to hold on trust community assets for community benefit. BVDT is a company limited by guarantee whose board members similarly comprise of community and business volunteers.

For purposes of role clarity; BCP transacts the social regeneration of the community, whilst BVDT delivers economic regeneration. Since 2004, and within a diversity of partnerships within the public and private sector, BVDT with our partners have successfully delivered the following economic IDP projects :

Community Led Environment Project (Value £639K) – A community led environmental project aimed at ecologically and/or environmentally remediating 9 core community land sites owned by the local authority and providing for a community after use.

Bizzy Bees Family Child Care Centre (Value £450K) - A 52 place childcare centre located in the heart of the village.

Information Society Project (Value £340K) - This project provides Beighton with its own state of the art community website for community groups, local businesses and statutory or voluntary service providers to have a presence on the website, thereby assisting both the economic and social regeneration of the community & inward investment.

Full Circle Project (Value £300K) – A community capacity building Project that uses culture, the environment and the arts to engage the local community in the other core community projects that provide economic regeneration for the community.

Holbrook Business Park (Value £3.2M) - In an established and successful partnership with Shepherd Developments, the creation of a modest commercial business park on a 2 hectare site within an existing industrial estate. Site construction commenced August 2005 and has now been successfully completed.

The following projects are in construction for delivery December 2007 - January 2008

Beighton Healthy Lifestyle Centre (Value £1M) – The conversion of a former Church Hall into a community owned dual purpose built centre for the practice of healthy lifestyle activities including complementary and alternative therapies within a serviced office setting. Additional community space for conferencing & Lifestyle community café.

Beighton Sport & Leisure Club Project (Value £1.2M) - To assist an existing Miners Welfare Scheme & grounds to modernise itself into a ‘One Stop Shop’ community centre providing a focal point of the community for all local community, leisure, social & sports activities, including managed/serviced office space for local start-up businesses.

Beighton Villages Development Trust in a partnership with private sector developers seek to re-develop the former Beighton Colliery site with the ERIC project rising as a phoenix  of employment from the ashes of Beighton’s principal collery which closed over 20 years ago.
